Scenarios To Use Each Lighting Drivers

Updated on August 29, 2024

Decor offers two types of drivers. Your application will determine which driver to use. If you want to use a compatible dimmable wall switch, then use the dimmable driver (LT-DIRVER-DIMM). This driver has 54 watts power output and requires a minimum of 8 watts. An electrician will run regular 110v wires from the dimmable wall switch to the spot the dimmable driver will be located which should be accessible. If the driver is not located close to the bare 6-way distributor, then the electrician will need to run low-voltage wires from the driver to the location of the distributor. The installer will connect the low-voltage wire from the dimmable driver to the bare 6-way distributor for the puck or strip light connection. However, if you have a standard 110 plug, then you need the constant driver (LT-DRIVER-CONS). This driver has 60 watts power output. An electrician can connect the plug to a standard toggle/rocker wall switch or hardwire the plug for constant power to use cabinet box switches with the constant driver. The installer will connect an extension lead and a 6-way switch distributor to the constant driver for the puck or strip light connection.

SCENARIO 1: COMPATIBLE DIMMABLE WALL SWITCH NEEDS THE DIMMABLE DRIVER (LT-DRIVER-DIMM)

*Note: It is recommended that the driver is accessible. The location will be determined by the designer. 8 watts minimum load is required for this driver.

*Note: If the driver is not close to the bare 6-way distributor, then an electrician will supply and run low-voltage wires from the driver to the location of the 6-way bare. The 6-way bare location is determined by the designer.

*Note: Cabinet box switches don’t work with dimmable driver.

*Note: A 2-meter extension lead LT-LEAD-EXT-2M is available if you need to extend the puck or strip lead to the 6-way bare distributor.

SCENARIO 2: STANDARD TOGGLE / ROCKER WALL SWITCH WIRED TO 110 PLUG USES THE CONSTANT DRIVER (LT-DRIVER-CONS)

*Note: The plug location will be determined by the designer.

*Note: A 2-meter extension lead LT-LEAD-EXT-2M is available if you need to extend the puck or strip lead to the 6-way bare distributor.

SCENARIO 3: CABINET BOX SWITCH, NO WALL SWITCH. YOU NEED A HARDWIRED 110 PLUG USES THE CONSTANT DRIVER (LT-DRIVER-CONS)

*Note: The plug location will be determined by the designer.

*Note: A 2-meter extension lead LT-LEAD-EXT-2M is available if you need to extend the puck or strip lead to the 6-way bare distributor.
